It's almost Memorial Day, so we'll be doing some reading in class on this topic for the next week.

Happy Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo! We'll be doing some fun things in class to celebrate (and learn more than you ever wanted to know about the history of Mexico...for instance, did you know that Mexico was occupied by France for awhile?)

Tax Day

Taxes. Unless you're an accountant, it's probably nobody's favorite subject, but it's one of life's inevitabilities. We'll be reading and thinking about taxes (and financial literacy) today in class...and if you haven't filed, and you need to, you have until 11:59 PM this evening. (And for your procrastinators, the airport post office is open the latest of all the post offices in town.)

April Fool!

Today is a day for celebrating silliness. We'll be doing some fun (silly) stuff in class, as well as reading about famous historical pranks, hoaxes, and practical jokes. Also, we'll be contemplating some of the paradoxes of the English language. Definitely bring your sense of humor to class today.

Today is officially the first day of Spring. We'll be doing some spring-themed activities in class and celebrating the fact that the days are getting warmer and longer (although it'll be cool and rainy for quite some time yet).

Happy Pi Day! In honor of the wackiness that is Pi, we'll be doing some pi-themed activities in class today (but don't worry, no math here!)

Welcome to February, Black History Month

February is a very busy month. We'll be focusing on Black History this month. Depending on which class/grade level you are in, topics will vary. (And since Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras, and Chinese New Year also occur during the month of February, we will also be doing special activities/readings on those days as well.)

Super Bowl Week

Ladies and gentlemen, it's that time of year again...Superbowl! It's also time for Football Hall of Fame biography week. All week, in class, we will be reading select biographies of some of the famous football players who ever lived and doing some fun football-themed things (thus marking the kick off week for Black History Month). Whether you enjoy football or not, you will probably enjoy find something interesting in these life stories.
