Welcome to December

Wecome to the month of November

Welcome to October

Welcome to the month of October. It's the time of year when the warm sunny days of summer finally surrender to the crisp clear days of fall, and the leaves turn from green to gold and red.

October is a busy month; it's also election season, and at the end of the month, there's Halloween (and Dia de los Muertos). In honor of that, we'll be thinking and reading about lots of different things this month: the arrival of fall, the election process, and scary stuff (everything from classic horror stories to real life creepy crawlies). Since October is also Hispanic Heritage month, we'll be considering the contributions from Hispanic culture permeate American culture in ways that may be both familiar and surprising.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

It's National Talk Like a Pirate Day! Since your teacher has a bit of a "thing" for pirates, we'll be doing some piraty, nautical-themed stuff in class today. Be prepared for lots of bad pirate jokes/puns or be prepared to walk the plank.

September 11

Today is the anniversary of the September 11 World Trade Center bombing, so we'll be reading and thinking about that today in class.
